Research and Innovation
Dr. Haffner is an active contributor to clinical research in retinal disease, with involvement in trials focused on age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, and retinal vein occlusions. He has participated in studies through the DRCR Retina Network, the National Eye Institute-funded research consortium that has shaped modern treatment standards for diabetic eye disease. Within the New England Retina Associates network, Dr. Haffner sees patients referred from across the region, and his hospital affiliations include Yale New Haven Hospital, Bridgeport Hospital, Greenwich Hospital, Danbury Hospital, Griffin Hospital, Saint Mary's Hospital, and Stamford Hospital. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists.
What I find most meaningful about retina care is that we have the privilege of intervening at moments when a patient's vision is genuinely at risk, and seeing them keep doing the things they love. Every patient deserves the most current, evidence-based care, and that is what I try to deliver at every visit.
