Photodynamic Therapy

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a therapeutic procedure that makes use of a photosensitive intravenous drug, verteporfin, in combination with infrared laser to treat visual damage coming from the layer underneath the retina called the choroid.

With this therapy, we can treat central serous retinopathy, certain benign choroidal tumors and sometimes macular degeneration.
